I will swallow my own words. This was so damn good. Even tho i laughed in some parts when it was too much happening in so many fantastic ways i did not see any of it coming. I judged it and it proved me wrong. Im glad it did.

Ps: i knew u shouldnt trust seaweed.

Audio is pretty good. I didn't like the voices used for a few characters because they sounded odd in context, but I feel like I got a better sense for Thea and Coen's dynamic and when they became a team

This book took me a little while to get into it. The first fifty pages were a little confusing and some characters weren't introduced very well. They just kind of popped up and only had a little bit of backstory.

I have to say, I hated Toby so much. He was so disrespectful and rude and the way he was written was so similar to how little boys act when they have a supposed crush on a girl. I was basically waiting in fear for that moment when Toby admits to having a crush on Thea.
SpoilerI was honestly so happy he died.

Also I expected this book to be scarier then it was. I just kind of assumed it was a sci-fi/horror. It was really creepy when they were first on the planet and starting to look around and stuff. Especially with the seaweed thing. But then it became more like an action adventure story. Still, I really liked it.

i’m really mad about the cliffhanger but this was pretty solid. i will never understand why ya authors feel the need to change POVs so constantly but still enjoyable

Super creepy and exciting! Definitely a few twists I didn’t see coming. I really enjoyed the characterization of Thea, Coen & Nova.

This was good! A slightly predictable read but the plot was interesting and kept me interested from start to finish. I enjoy the way Erin writes the inner workings of a characters thought process and enjoyed the mystery even if it was a litttle underwhelming twist. I’ll be reading the second book!

This was easier to listen to once I realized it was a space disease and not another sort of pandemic.

I wanted to tap out in the beginning of the book. Things picked up around the 60% mark. I think some of the ideas are interesting here, but not ground breaking.

It's been a while since I read this, so this will be a short review. But I really enjoyed it! This one was SUPER creepy, I loved that about it! It had a very strong Alien meets Pitch Black feel to it (which basically means it was awesome). It was incredibly fast paced and cinematic! I loved the mystery to it in the beginning - you don't know much about what's going on, and it keeps you interested. This would make such a great movie!

The world building was fabulous - I loved the way Bowman set everything up. It felt so realistic! And the contagion part of it was so cool! I don't want to say much else because I don't want to spoil anything. I went in knowing little to nothing about what was going on and that's part of the intrigue - figuring things out for yourself!

I loved the little snippets we got of the boy in the beginning! It tied the story together nicely and kept it moving. The only real complaint I have about this one is that I didn't connect emotionally as well as I'd hoped. When things happened I didn't really feel much of anything.

I don't have much else to say about this one other than I enjoyed it and you should definitely give it a go!

(8/10) - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Contagion is one of those books I just need from time to time - fun, fast paced, and intriguing enough to keep turning pages. Plus, I love a good sci-fi horror!

This is my second time reading this before I finally get to the sequel, and just like the first time I thought this was well plotted and equally well paced. There's enough to these characters to make sense of their actions, and the setting made a great backdrop to the story being told.

However, while the writing is perfectly solid and I appreciate the grit in this YA, the way this is narrated left something to be desired for me. There's hinting at things and intentions in an effort of foreshadowing, but it gives a little bit too much away and gets predictable at times.

All in all, a strong 4-star read I'd recommend to those in need of something quick.
