Love Love Love Love Love!

Charlotte Bronte is a genius! This isn't a book I would normally be crazy about because it's so long and descriptive but she did it so well. For a time I was sad that I didn't have to read this in High School but now that I think about it, I don't think I was old enough to grasp everything that this book has to offer. It's much more than a love story, it's a coming of age tale and its fantastic!

On a side note, I wasn't exactly convinced of Jane and Mr. Rochester's love at first. It seemed almost unbelievable and a little too much for such a young girl. But besides that little mishap, I loved it!

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will.”

“Life appears to me too short to be spent in nursing animosity or registering wrongs.”

Surprisingly intriuing to read (made me want to read and not check how many pages), more romance than expected, strangly applicable to modern day romantic situations and main character was relatable for me (especially with St John), age gap is still a bit weird though

THIS BOOK WAS A JOURNEY. it took me months and months to read and honestly I am so happy it is over. at times this was the most stunning thing ever, but there were other times where I HATED IT. Overall I did not really connect to much of the story. I did enjoy the character of Jane Eyre and loved the dynamic between her and mr. Rochester at times. I cannot even be bothered writing a full review as I am just over it

How could Bronte even think to compare her writing to Austen's? I'm sorry, but no. Austen's sentences are beautiful and illustrate what can be done with grammar. Bronte's sentences are nothing to write home about :)

Jane Eyre is a YA novel with an odd and eclectic vocabulary for a YA novel. The Victorian morality is depressing and out of date. The story is cliched.
