I'm not giving a star rating, because I am not the target audience/age group. That being said, I picked this book up because of the beautiful cover (I’m weak like that), but the inside didn’t really live up to it. The characters are mainly caricatures and there is very little in terms of character development. This is definitely a plot driven story. I also stumbled over random changes in perspective and found myself wondering nearly every other page why something illogical was happening or why some piece of worldbuilding was a certain way.
I recommend this book for younger middle grade children (8-12, depending on reading level), or if you are an older reader and know exactly what you like in books i.e.: 100% plot driven, you don’t care too much about logical worldbuilding and can just enjoy the ride and the author’s creativity.
