Rhage the most beautiful vampire. Mary the human is able to tame the beast inside of him. Good followup to the first book Dark Lover.

It was easier to get into 'Lover Eternal'; I was aware of who the characters were and understood some of their backgrounds (although I'm starting to realise I only know the surface of their problems, there are a lot more issues hiding underneath).

I was afraid the series was going to be predictable: A damaged brother, a woman falling for a strange warrior in leather, lessers running around causing trouble and a happy ending. And while I have no problem with this, as the romance and action all differs slightly, and the text is easy enough to lose yourself in, even if it's predictable; I'm pleasantly surprised that there were twists in this book that made me think "Wow, didn't see that coming."

Rhage and Mary's struggle to be together is sometimes heartbreaking and super sexy the rest of the time. There are quite a few obstacles to overcome: Rhage's curse, the beast that explodes from within him whenever he's out of control, and Mary's returned cancer. But the two of them show how strength isn't just about how much weight you can lift; sometimes it's about how well you hold yourself together and fight for what you love, or I guess you could say who you love.

I love that the book doesn't just focus on Rhage and Mary, we see hints of future romances and trouble for the other brothers: Phury's celibacy, Tohr and Wellsie's potential child, Zsadist's fear of being touched and loved, Vishous's ability to see the future and Butch's obsession with Marissa. They've all got problems and I can't wait to get a chance to solve their issues.

I'm still not a fan of the lessers POVs, but at least in 'Lover Eternal' the main guy, Mr.O, was a lot more interesting than Mr.X from 'Dark Lover'; and it looks like we'll be seeing him again in the next book, so I guess I'll be prepared for his involvement in the story.

4/5 stars.

So I am finished book no 2: Rhage's story (big dreamy sigh) I'm so happy I didn't give up after book 1.
There's nothing like that feeling when you turn over the last page of a book and sit there with a big goofy smile on your face.
I really enjoyed this and the teasers throughout for Z's story has me mad to read the next book.
So for anyone unsure about continuing this series after the first one...persevere and if, like me, The lesser's storyline bore's you rigid just skim it, there are one or two important pieces of info but nothing that needs your undivided attention.

I like the world, and I like the characters, but this one was… rough. The first time they had sex was after he had gone and screwed some random woman. She got mad and what does she do? have  some very angry sex, of course! And she apologizes to him! He doesn’t freaking explain, at this point he’s hiding a shit-ton of things from her, and of course doesn’t apologize. I definitely didn’t like that. It felt like cheating; even when they weren’t together, exactly, he’d already bonded and marked her at this point.
The way she kept pushing him away was annoying. Her self-esteem was in hell and she should have been doing some therapy. I really disliked the way she hurt Raghe over and over, right until he goes and cheats. At that point I kinda disliked them both.
He lost all his humor. He’s all sad, woe-is-me for the whole thing. He was kinda depressing. And how come he thinks whipping out Mary’s memories is a violation, but he didn’t give a shit about the others he did the same to? Yeah, real nice guy. Because he gave them orgasms it was cool, right? hell no! Fortunately, he stopped at some point, and the book at the end wasn’t really about him, or I wouldn’t have been able to finish. Bella and Zsadist kept me reading.
The “Chosen” were problematic as well. Basically, they view themselves as unworthy because the Brotherhood isn’t using them. Literally. The whole vampire society is absurdly misogynistic.
There were so many side plots that Rhage and Mary took a back seat for a good chunk of the book. At some point they felt like secondary characters. And the whole Mr O shit was so unnecessary. I mean, did we have to spend several chapters reading how they chose a parcel to build and then watch them build their torture chamber? No, we didn’t, I skipped most of that and missed nothing. And the very few parts that were relevant should have been left for the next book, since all of it is some sort of context for Bella’s abduction, and she’s gonna have her book with Z. The world had zero development, and nothing really happens with the larger storyline. This could have easily been a novella.
I can’t take the antagonists seriously. They seem pretty inept, and they keep getting killed left and right.
And that ending! talk about convenience. And the way the Scribe Virgin pities her for not being able to have children was cringy.
Overall it was entertaining. Junk-food reading, I heard someone call this kind of books. You know they’re bad, but you kept gobbling them up.

this book is so good and angsty but he basically cheats on her because of the beast that lives in him. Even tho he loves her and they’ve been intimate. At over 50% which sucks bc otherwise it’s such a good book

Mr. O (or is it X, Y, Z?) only got interesting by the end of the story, other than that I found it extremely challenging to not just skim over his parts and basically give a shit about what he was up to. This would be an easy five star if his parts weren't there, I loved Mary and Rhage. But boy am I looking forward to Zsadist and Bella.

Re-read February 2019

I really fucking love this book. We get to meet JM, have Wellsie and Tohr make us believe in love again: and Rhage’s character development omfg.

HAL E. WOOD. Be still my beating heart. Rhage is my baby.

The only reason why I give this 4 not 5 stars is because even the second time round I don’t give any fucks about lesser POVs.

Oh lord, the writing is still ridiculous but I could not put this book down. I need the next one, like, immediately.

Segundo libro, esta vez enfocado en Rhage. Hollywood baby!
