I've only ever read this and Those Who Wait by Hayley Cass and after finishing this one, I just have one question...

Which best friend were you in love with Hayley and are you guys married now? Because the way you write about yearning *feels* like a lived experience.

God this book was so good! If you love friends to lovers then this one is definitely for you. These dorks were in a relationship long before they had sex without even realizing! it!

Honestly I’m willing to admit that my reading habits the past few months (reading quick sm*tty books) could be a part of the problem with this one. But to me it felt sooo slow. Loved the twist in the end but it took me a while to get there.

I recently finished reading the 3rd book by Haley Cass, and I must say, she has become one of my favorite sapphic authors. This book follows the best friends-to-lovers trope, which I didn't expect to enjoy, but to my surprise, I loved every minute of it! I appreciate how Haley Cass incorporated flashbacks of the two main characters from their college days between chapters. These flashbacks provide a deeper understanding of Gianna and Riley's friendship before the developing romantic tension. Having the flashbacks in Gianna's perspective then switch to Riley's perspective in present time is a wise decision. It keeps you on your toes how the other one feels in the moment. Haley Cass did this exact technique in "When You Least Expect It" and she's done it so perfectly again.

Additional comments:
-I love how Gianna reacted after the livestream. It's not a cliche "putting up the walls" trope. Altho it's probably because she was waiting for that to happen her whole life. LOL
