Hot Guy on cover

So at some point I started this book and then abandoned it halfway through. I did not remember that until I picked it back up today. Clearly there was a reason why I abandoned it.

It is your typical romance novel, which don't get me wrong I love romance, but this just was...I couldn't get into it. I tried again, even though I forgot I started it, and even though I finished it it was a struggle. I skimmed over all the sexy parts because I just wasn't feeling them, but it seems like most of this book was made up of sexy parts. Plus the whole using-a-drug-that-causes-arousal scenario I've already read. It was done by Lora Leigh and I'll admit I did prefer those storylines to this.

like liliana harts other books but should have known with a naked chest on the front cover (a sure giveaway of a book I won't like)...

This is not Romantic Suspense. There was no romance. Not character development of any substantial kind. Everything is shallow and kind of smutty. To me it felt like BDSM sex with a partner who really wasn't willing. She even says "NO" and his reply, "You know you want it." This book hit a lot of danger zones. This is pure erotica/porn. The plot also hinges on an insatiable date rape drug that was rather over the top and just a device to get MORE sex in the book. This book could have been so much more than it turned out to be. The characters are just paper dolls for poor erotica.

To each their own, but all of the 4 and 5 star reviews are misleading at best. This book really SHOULD come with a warning. Bottomline: This isn't a romantic love story so if you are looking for one, don't waste your time on this one.

I liked it even as I was thinking the characters were doing nonsensical things. For example, Cade decides he needs to stick close to Bayleigh for her own good but they'd only spoken once at that point. It would have made more sense to stay away from her to keep the cartel from focusing on her.

Either way, it was still a hot book and I enjoyed it :)

The best book in the series so far out of the ones I've read. Cade is the cousin to Cooper MacKenzie, this is the first book in the Mackenzie series I enjoyed. It was more fleshed out, the book was hot, there was a lot of steamy sex. If that's not your sort of thing don't read the book.

Cade is trying to flush out the Cartel who killed his lover, he gets involved with his next door neighbour Bayleigh - can he keep her safe too?

I would really really like a hot man like Cade MacKenzie to move in next to me. I could say loads more about sweet Bayleigh and how I want to meet the other brothers but it is Sunday night and Bedtime!

Cade is ex-DEA. Haunted by the death of his lover at the hands of her own father, he is determined to avenge her death by luring out the drug cartel which is distributing a new date rape drug on the streets of Texas.

When he moves into his new house he inadvertently wakes up his neighbour who is desperately trying to get some sleep after working a 14 hour day. Soon the sparks are flying but Cade can't let anyone close, not with a price on his head.

Bayleigh finds her new neighbour like Byron: mad, bad and dangerous to know. But she finds him totally hot.

Cade teetered on the brink of being an a-hole (literally and figuratively now I come to think of it). I have a real issue with men who ignore what a woman says, just because they "know" she really means the opposite. It's unforgivable under any circumstances - but apparently being an alpha male gives you a free pass - nope. Also these characters delay female gratification but heaven help the woman if they don't get gratification when they want it.

It was free for my Kindle so I can't complain but I thought there was a great story overshadowed by the author's need to label the book as erotic/a.

Cade had it a rough a few years ago, he lost the woman he loved. Now he's going to try to get back at the people who killed her. But he never imagined he would meet Bayleigh and his life would be lost.

Bayleigh meets the next door Cade, and its an instant attraction. But she also knows that he is trouble. Not just the looks of him, but for her heart as well. As they actually get to know each other, Cade ends up putting Bayleigh in danger. And now they have to figure out what to do, and how to keep her safe.

I really enjoyed this book. This is the first one of this series I've read, but I wasn't lost or anything. It was very well written, and all of the characters emotions were brought to life very well. I really liked this one. And not only that in the epilogue we get to see what leads to the next book, so now I'm excited to read that one as well.

I liked the plot of the cartel, would have given it a higher rating. The sex scenes got a little ridiculous. I ended up not finishing it because of it.
