What a fun read! These are the discarded superheroes of comics past, some boring, some bizarre, and some ahead of their time. Each gets about a page and some artwork, and the author does a good job of keeping his treatment of each hero from sounding monotonous. I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I have never seen a greater collection of potential band names. This would make a great gift and/or coffee table book for the nerds in your life.

Didn't finish just due to holidays/life. Really interesting, made me giggle if not outright laugh, big drawings. Super cool.

Delightful! A great collection of superheroes through the years it's funny from its little quips like 'great act of bravery: wearing shorts and suspenders as a superhero costume' to its discerning selection like The Human Fly, who, apart from anything else, looks like a hot cross bun.
I love this book. It's been a great pick-me-up. But I'll also never forgive it for introducing me to AAU Shuperstar.

You have no idea what kind of insanity awaits you when you open this book.
People back then really thought, REALLY THOUGHT, some of these wacky weirdos would do as well as Superman or Spider-man. Honestly, a joy to see the do-gooders/baddies that have been lost to obscurity.

Every one of these characters could be on the Venture Bros.

I received the book for free through Goodreads Giveaways. Entertaining book, lots of good obscure information, more for browsing than reading straight through. Beautiful full color book with lots of images. A niche book for sure, but if you think you'll enjoy it, you most likely will.

I don't fault the author for his excellent work; I simply agree that most of these heroes were half-baked at best, and thus not that interesting to me.

Honestly, this book works much better as a reference book for comic fans of forgotten superheroes than as entertainment itself, and that's fine - that's exactly what I've used it for.

Funny stuff, but the way each section was written was too similar for my tastes, and became grating after a while because each superhero ran together. Not interested in reading any other books in this...series? Collection? But this book is a good, relaxing book for when you just need a laugh and don't want or have time to read a long story.
