Reading books in Spanish is always a more active reading experience for me, even if it is the audio book. But I loved the continuing historical contexts, the character development, and how the twists and turns of a country affect one man and his family. I do feel like the book had a couple of natural end points with which I could have been happy. As in, the actual ending itself didn't make me any happier than any of the other potential end points could have. Either way, I was with him till the end. Though I do wonder if it's worth noting his love interest as a main theme in the description of the book, since she's only there for such a short time, and he moves on anyway, albeit with her memory making some appearances throughout the book. Not saying he shouldn't have moved on, but I'm just not sure if she herself was his defining moment of love necessarily.

Great start
disappointed by the storyline and the character developments
break between the first 300 pages and the rest of the book
Is okay but not nearly as good as the first book
