I liked this one more than I was expecting too, but I could have done with a little more romance in my romance novel. Also, Ivan's a pretty terrible cop. Just sayin'.

I actually like these two and the obvious wrongness of Ivan's investigation. He figures this out but not pinpointing the obvious bad guy was an issue. Still I can see Parker not trusting and reacting the way he did except I actually liked this one a bit more than the first (unlike many of my friends) because I felt for Parker who was being manipulated on both sides even though one side was not trying to screw him over. Still he was deceived so how do you get over that? I liked the twists, seeing Davy and Kurt from the first book and knowing that Kurt's brother is next. I will be reading on.

Worst. Detective. Ever. I saw from a mile away that There's only a 12 year age difference (34/22), but a large difference in experience.

This is book two of a series of three but capable of being read as a standalone.
This is the story of Ivan, a police man (common theme) in Toronto and Parker. They meet when Ivan has to become Parker's straight roommate in a bogus undercover op.
It did take me at least a third of the book to get hooked into the story and so, of the three, the one I enjoyed least - still liked it though and liked the series too

Just couldn't get into the story. Found the plot line a bit unbelievable and didn't really feel the attraction between Ivan and Parker. A series I'm not worried about finishing.

This was not as good as the first installment of this series, Cop Out. Not at all. What happened?
Cover Up started off kind of where Cop Out ended. I should’ve reread the first book to refresh my memory as to what happened. Cover Up has me questioning Cop Out’s quality. Was it really good or was it good at the time? I do remember loving Davy and Kurt and how their relationship developed over the course of the novel.
Ivan and Parker were too stupid to live. My biggest issues were Ivan’s lack of real detective skills and the MC’s general lack of communication. Actually, I don’t know how they could’ve fallen in love with each other in two weeks. First of all, Parker doesn’t know anything about Ivan, not even his real name. Ivan seems to just fill the void Parker’s mother left since Ivan is the first person to him genuinely care and comfort him. It reminds me of a baby bird attaching itself to the first person it sees and calling it mother.
Secondly, Ivan spent a good portion of the book thinking Parker was a drug dealer when all signs pointed his friend. For an undercover job, his back story was completely unbelievable and he didn’t ask any questions that could’ve aided his investigation. The investigation itself and the reason behind it were all just a big joke.
I was really hoping for Kurt’s brother’s story and hope it comes out next. And hopefully it’ll be a lot better than this one.

Cover Up is the second audio book in KC Burn’s Toronto Tales series, and while I loved it, and Tristan James’ fantastic narration, there are few things in Cover Up’s storyline I had problems overcoming.
Going from being on administrative leave after a drug raid gone wrong, to going undercover, I have to admit I had a little problem with this; I couldn’t understand why Ivan would risk his job when his boss pushed him to take the case. This, coupled with all the misunderstandings and more than a few conclusions being jumped to between Ivan and Parker, had me rolling my eyes a couple of times. For instance, Ivan mistaking Neil for Parker’s boyfriend rather than his friend, or when Parker would leave after having sex with Ivan. Ivan assumed it was Parker’s guilt over his “cheating” on Neil, which wasn’t the case at all but is an example of their lack of communication.
But, even with the eye rolling angst thrown in for effect, there were some very sweet moments in this story that made me want to see how Ivan and Parker managed their HEA, things I don’t want to reveal because they’d be spoilers, but let’s just say there are some nice surprises in Cover Up too.
As for the narrator, let me just say that if Tristan James were a telemarketer, I would be the one keeping him on the phone line. This man has a voice that curls my toes.
So, I’m giving this audio a 4 Star rating.

I didn't like this quite as much as book 1, but it is more like a 3.5/5. Parker was adorable, I loved him. But his and Ivan's relationship was a bit insane. With all the lies and betrayal and confusion, I was surprised how easily they got through it at the end. I did not expect Parker to take Ivan back so quickly. I wish we could have seen a bit more of them together afterwards. Maybe an epilogue.
