2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 for the story line.

Perhaps my love for Young Adult books is waning. I find Tick and co pretty annoying, which I'm sure I'm not supposed to do - you're supposed to like the protagonist and their friends, right? Ugh.

Though in saying that, Sato is pretty kick ass in this book. Made me kind of wish he was the protagonist, instead of the bratty Tick.

SpoilerAm I being weird that I felt uncomfortable when Sato was vowing to carry out genocide? I mean, we don't know a lot about the Bugaboo soldiers - are they really just crazed murderous clowns?

Man, this took me forEVER to finish, but MAN, it was amazing. It's not like one of those books that drags on the conflict forever, and it never feels dangerous enough, or it doesn't escalate properly. Also, the character development here is absolutely beautiful. James Dashner proves that, once again, he's got a way with words. Seriously, this book was amazing, if a bit long, and it's definitely worth the read.
