I love this book! It is amazing! It's about a girl named Britt Arthurs who gets pulled back in time to when Merlin and King Arthur were alive. She is made king by Merlin and fights a war! I have re-read this book a bazillion times!

It's always a funky experience reading an ebook on the computer. At least for me. However, since this was the second book I read on the computer I think I enjoyed it better. I think someday I'll buy the sequel, but for right now I'll stick to my physical copies of books, be them ones I own, borrowed from a friend, or borrowed from the library.

King Arthur and her Knights captured my attention from the title alone. While at first I didn’t have any interest in Britt due to her personality, I rapidly found myself engaged in the story until 89 pages later, and I was finished and wanting more!

This is a retelling of King Arthur and His Knights, but instead of it being about the male King, Merlin winds up getting Britt, a young girl from the future who pulls the sword out of the stone when at a graveyard doing photo shoots with her two friends.

The story continues with Britt not believing she’s actually in the past, and Merlin telling her she has no way to get home. I’m actually thinking that Merlin is lying about this, because he seems awfully shifty about all of it. I do believe he’s up to something.

Britt survives battles, being crowned King of Britain, gets a dog, and finds that she adores Camelot and how beautiful it is. The writing is fast-paced and action packed, and there’s lots of nods to the original story that I liked. I especially loved the encounter with the Lady of the Lake.

Overall, I’m giving this 5/5 stars because of how fun it was too read. I am definitely looking into getting the rest of this series, and seeing where it goes.

This is a very different take on the legend of King Arthur, but I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the rest of the series and getting to know the characters better.

Pretty good

A revamped take on a classic tale, taking the Arthurian legend and twisting it with just the right amount of modern flair and gender bending intrigue. This was well done, though there was still something indefinably missing - an aura or a feeling that would have solidified this tale for me. Britt is brilliant, but young Merlin may be too clever for his own good - and far too apt to play fools against each other.

Pros:
- King Arthur.
- Young Merlin is hot.
- Keeps with the spirit of the legend.
- Decently paced.

Cons:
- Politics are politics, no matter the era.
- Too many skin through paragraphs or pages.

I love, love love, this series. Between a girl King, medieval England, and the humor, this is the perfect book for me. While Britt may be Merlins puppet, she finds ways to make Camelot her own. She is the one that has to win over her knights and she does it with ease. Even with all her amazing girl characteristics, Britt is not lost when she becomes King Arthur. I liked how the fact that she was taken from her home was not forgotten through her insomnia and other mentions throughout the book. Besides when Britt retrieved her sword, the battle scene was my favorite. She knows the reality of battle now, she establishes herself as the dragon King without trying, and she shows she cares for the people under her rule. Overall it was a great introduction to the series and had me anticipating Enchanted.

Britt Arthurs

This is such a different take on retelling the story of King Arthur of Camelot! Britt (a girl from modern day America) is on a trip with her friends in London seeing different literary based sites when they come upon the sword in the stone and must get pictures with it. Britt doesn’t want to but indulges her friends and does it anyway. Before they can even have her say ‘cheese’, she is transported back to the time Arthur is to be named king.

She wakes up groggy and under the impression she is dreaming, but she chooses to see how her ‘dream’ plays out. Merlin (who is much younger than the bearded wizard Disney has shown us) convinces her to pretend to be Arthur as the actual Arthur has run off. (And yes, like the Arthur of legend, Britt is able to pull the sword from the stone) So she follows Merlin’s advice and guidance on what she needs to do to convince the people she is worthy to rule (this involves multiple times of pulling the sword from the stone after other groups of men have tried, as well as a war with 3 kings who refuse to believe that the youth is the right person for the job).

True to Kitty’s (K.M. Shea) use of humor in books, Britt says things that you and I understand and may be used to hearing, but compared to Old English it sounds very odd and foreign. Especially when Britt doesn’t know what to say when accepting someone as her knight so she throws out a Star Wars quote.
