This book was plain AWFUL....too confusing, too much flipping to the back of the book to look at the glossary...awful.
I loved the idea....I love reading about Alaska...but ugh. Too confusing, too many sentences to dscribe everything. Ugh.
Doesn't even deserve a star....I didn't used to give up on books, but I read 50 pages and was so disinterested by this book that I started finding other things to read when I climbed into bed. Time to say syanora.

One less book on my shelf. Don't recommend it AT ALL. Put it down...and go back to the library.

This book was pretty fun and I liked the world building paired with mystery. The cop narrative was a bit hard to swallow, especially with the protagonists extrajudicial shooting that get excused because the woman he accidentally killed was a criminal? Just doesn’t sit right. I probobly would not recommend even though I generally enjoyed it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. I bought it several years ago, but just got around to reading it. I had no idea what it was about, and was pleasantly surprised. Not as good as Kavalier and Clay, but a much easier, fun read.

What a gorgeously funny book. Every sentence is maximally written to have the most impact (usually ironic comedy) but the plot is engaging and weird enough to keep you reading through it quickly. Also definitely a product of the second Bush administration
