A run-of-the-mill plot (teenage underdog overcomes adversity in a competition) that Rowling's exceptional worldbuilding just takes to another level. Harry and Ron's adolescent development is hugely entertaining (we begin to see glimmers of the Ron/Hermione relationship really coming into play), the Yule Ball scene is simply a delight. Rowling also works the plot shifting into the graphic depictions of the imminent war expertly. Simply delightful.

The relationship between Hermione and Victor Krum has an uncomfortable age gap.jjpope's review against another edition
