There's an audience for this book, I'm just not it.
It's not that it's bad. God's War has an interesting and well-realized world, as well as believable characters. Despite a few pacing hiccups, the writing is solid and engaging.
However, this is a double-edged sword because I hated being in the characters' heads. Everyone's prejudices and flaws fit the setting perfectly. They function effectively within the story. They are so non-stop and so unpleasant, it was like a million bugs buzzing and biting, wearing away my enjoyment of everything else.
