This book was a random selection off of a shelf of the library stack. Allegedly this book is funny but I truly do not get the "humor" in this book. It felt too drawn out with no real character development and until about the second to last chapter I was quite bored. Sorry Bruno.

Our local libraries have book sales every year and I try my best to pick up some books that I wouldn't normally grab in my hunt that sound like my types of books. It normally works out really well for me and I find a bunch of new authors I have to hunt down. This was one of them!
I did the whole "judge a book by it's cover" thing and I was like... Dogs... Yes. This sounds fun. Dog Dish of Doom ended up being quite the fun cozy mystery and I want to read more by E.J. Copperman now, even though there aren't a ton of books in this series. Which is a real shame, because I really liked this one.
Having our lead be an agent for dog actors was one of the funnier things about this book and I have to say... I've yet to read a book with a lead like that. Throw in a mystery on why this dog is so darn popular, and you've got a fun read. There's some stakes in there but they aren't terrifying. I love a nice cozy mystery, they make it so I can just read and enjoy myself.
Four out of five stars.

I don't read cozy mysteries all that often, maybe one or two a year and every time I read one I am reminded that I should read them more often! With a dog at the center of this story it appealed to me even more and when the first page opened to a dog named Bruno (not a German Shepherd) I was so excited to keep on reading!
Bruno is a dog that is headed to Broadway to be the dog in Annie and after a little drama during his audition his agent Kay is a little worried. She wakes up the next morning to read in the paper that Bruno's owner has been murdered and she must find out why and who and how.

Kay Powell flouted her parents' disappointment when left the act she'd grown up performing with them and went to law school. Somewhat mollified by her decision to become an agent for show business animals, her parents have a front row seat when a client's owner is murdered.
The first in a series, this cozy has a fun, fresh protagonist, a well-crafted crime, and loads of humor.

This was adorable. I really liked it. It doesn't have talking dogs, though. Dunno why I thought it would.
I liked the main character; she leads an interesting life. Seeing that she's the narrator, it's important to like her.
The plot is pretty random but still fun. A nice cozy mystery.
