4.5 stars! Honestly this one took me by surprise a little. Definitely on the older side of YA (sex that isn’t completely fade to black, violence, liberal use of the F word) which I greatly enjoyed. At first I had a hard time getting into Rielle’s side of the story and I mostly read her chapters to get back to Eliana’s POV but she grew on me. The two storylines/timelines are well done and I thought it might be confusing but it wasn’t. Overall pretty great YA fantasy and I’m excited for the rest of the series!

It was a good book. I enjoyed the split chapters which showed the lives of the two girls simultaneously. I think one of my favorite aspects of the book was the scene at the beginning where all sorts of things are thrown at you without any reference at all. Because, I spent the rest of the book trying to place characters into that one scene, and trying to figure out what that scene meant for the rest of the book. It was well done and a fun read. Looking forward to what I will find in the next book.

So I finished this... I had to push myself to do it. I really did not like either of the female characters. Eliana grew on my towards the end but she was a terrible person. They were both terrible people. Everything they did pissed me off. Simon seemed like an okay guy. I don't know. I will probably forget all about this series by time the next one comes out. I may or may not read it. We shall see.
