Perhaps I just wasn't in the right place for another book about incest and abuse. Perhaps this book is being over hyped and can't possibly live up to it. I saw it compared to A Little Life and all I have to say to that is no, no, no. Give me The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley over this any day.

Okay so this is really hard to rate because I didn’t finish the book.
I read a lot of upsetting or disturbing books, but for some reason this one I just didn’t want to finish. The story itself I just could not get into. For some reason it just didn’t grab my attention and I’m not sure why- possibly the narration.

I'm not sure I can recommend this one.. it's a hard book. It's a hard story, but I am glad I finished it.
