A short time ago, Archie Lox was a normal boy living in London. That all changed when he saw a young girl, Inez, being chased by assassins and he followed her into the Merge. The Merge is an alternative dimension full of danger, peril and the aforementioned axe-and-knife-wielding murderers. It is also where Archie learns that he is a locksmith of rare, considerable talent and that he might be the one to unlock the most complicated lock of all.

Following the introduction to the wonderful world of the Merge in Darren Shan's Archibald Lox and the Bridge Between Worlds and their incredible victory in Archibald Lox and the Empress of Suanpan, Archie's adventures continue in Archibald Lox and the Vote of Alignment.

Archie, Inez and the band of thespians travel to Cornan, the capital of the Sapphire realm. There they will put on the performance of their lives, both on stage and during the Vote of Alignment. The whole safety of the Merge rests of their shoulders and Archie will learn just how important his role is. He'll also get to play a game or two of grop - an extravagant combination of basketball, football and utter mayhem - while eluding those pesky assassins. He may or may not succeed in either endeavour.

I thoroughly enjoyed the festival atmosphere of Cornan, with its intrigues and drama, atmosphere and performances. Archibald Lox and the Vote of Alignment truly transports the reader away to a different place, far, far away from the real world. I was also completely unprepared for that reveal at the end!

The Archibald Lox series is exactly what the world needs right now. It is inventive, magical and fantastical, terrifically readable and a lot of fun. All the books in the series are short, recommended for even the most reluctant readers, while those who prefer more hefty tomes can binge the full trilogy in one volume. The best thing about coming to the end of The Missing Princess trilogy? This is only volume one and the next book in the series, Archibald Lox and the Forgotten Crypt will be released on 1 July 2021.

I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy and give Archibald Lox and the Vote of Alignment a superb five out of five stars. Highly recommended for fans of superior middle grade fantasy fiction.

Archibald Lox and the Vote of Alignment was a damn good time. The story continues to unfold as Inez's master plan is exposed. Through a series of obstacles, Inez and Archie race to deliver Inez's message to Queen Pitania (think that's it?).

Inez's message was not what I was expecting!

Yep, binged this series over the weekend. I'm in denial that I have to return to the real world now. I don't want to, I want to keep living in Archies world and go on adventures with him!

I cannot wait for the next installment, but that's because I don't want to leave this world. I really like that there's not a massive cliff-hanger at the end, just more then enough to keep you interested..

I love how each volume is a whole story of itself, but it makes this whole world of stories and adventures possible in the Merge.

I find that I cannot put into words how much I love this story and why exactly, besides that it is just SO GOOD. Please go, read and find out for yourself ;)

I feel like I took my time reading this book for some reason, I did really enjoy it but it felt like not much action actually happened in this book compared to the first 2 if that makes sense. I enjoyed this book the most though out of them so far so the lack of action doesn’t really effect the rating much enough to drop it down a star.

In this book we discover the true reason for Inez needing to get to the royals before the vote which sort of sums up the whole book. But along the way we face some serious challenges and some knocked confidence from Archie and Inez. Their friendship within this book is still developing but from certain events you can tell that they are going to stay friends for a while no matter what. This is the main thing that I like about this book because they started off as strangers and they have developed to now be best friends who would not leave the other even if their lives were in serious danger.

There isn’t really much else to say about this book because it is quite short and the details I’d love to mention are the main parts within the book so it would be a serious spoiler. But if you have enjoyed the first 2 books so far then you will definitely enjoy this book for sure.

I really enjoyed the aspects of the rats within the book I felt like their part was very fitting within that sort of time that it is based in. The main bits of action within his a book are well described and very enjoyable, they are also the main bits where you find the most character development, hence why I can’t really mention them or discuss what happens within them.

I can’t remember what the name of that sort of football was called thinking it was something like goof or goob or something. I would have to check it up but either way the game seemed interesting, violent and a bit confusing because there was so many rules. I did enjoy though that Darren tried to include these rules so you could grasp the idea of the game, I wonder if this is based on an actual sport or something, I was getting rugby vibes while reading about the book.

I loved the end, I was really hoping to see more of
SpoilerArchie in the born at the end and his interaction with his foster parents but I guess the next books will cover that!

I really liked the addition of the rats/free kids in the merge.
What made me like the book a little less was the ‘grop’ sport that was introduced. It was kind of hard to follow the explanation and it kind of reminded me of quidditch.

I absolutely don’t ship Archibald and Inez, but I have a feeling they will end up together anyways...
Also I’m still waiting for the explanation why Archie acts like a merged, by being a locksmith, but is still alive?

In conclusion, I will probably continue the series because I’m too curious.

Why must this be over for now. I didn’t want to leave the world of the merged. I loved the adventures of Archie and Inez. I request volume 2 now!!! Actually I don’t cause I want the best story that Mr. Shan can possibly write! I’ve been reading Darren Shan books since I was a child at age 11. I’m 29 now and still loving everything he puts out. Thank you Mr. Shan for making me love reading like I do.
