Having just read a plethora of religious environmental books, I wasn't impressed by the scare tactics and doom and gloom of this message. There are lots of charts and graphs that were hard to understand, and it was mostly scientific points. I missed an underlying ethic or worldview that helps frame this crisis in a manageable way. It's fine to show us that a lot of bad things are happening, but we can't re-freeze the glaciers. Tell us the next step - the pro-active things we can do (other than close the fridge...).

In addition, this version was "adapted for A New Generation," which supposedly means a teen edition; the main difference being that it is a picture book. So you're saying the new generation can't read? Thanks, editors, thanks.

The science is pretty outdated now and it very much feels like it was written by a politician, but interesting to get a snapshot of the state of the climate crisis over 15 years ago.

It is what he says it is - a Powerpoint presentation meaning to highlight some of the key facts on climate change. It is interspersed with some personal stories from his life. It is not meant as a scientific journal, but more as an easy to understand note on the data we have so far.

There are many who turn a blind eye to climate change or try to create doubt in the minds of people to secure their financial gains from sources that contribute to global warming. But as thinking adults, it is our responsibility to see through the deceit and push our governments to bring in better environmental policies.

For those that believe that there is not enough evidence for climate change or that the scientific community is divided on the issue, please educate yourself and check if the skeptic scientist is getting paid by oil companies for their opinions. There was a time not too long ago when 'scientists' with vested interests swore that tobacco was not harmful.

For those that say that the current rate of climate change is a natural phenomenon and that environmentalists are just fear-mongering, you guys are probably the ones that refuse to get your kids vaccinated thinking it is just a ploy by doctors to make money and that we didn't need vaccines a 100 years ago. But please remember that a hundred years ago, the life expectancy was around 40 years of moderately healthy quality because these diseases killed and reduced their quality of life.

The only negative I have to say on the book itself is the formatting in this particular edition - it is difficult to read

Love the message of this book, but could have done without all the political bashing. If Gore wants to get this knowledge out there to everyone, he needs to stay neutral on that issue. While I understand politics are involved, i.e. our government needs to make regulations which are environmentally friendly, saying that without bashing a particular political party or politician can be accomplished quite easily.
