I fell in love with Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett's depiction of London from the first chapter and I haven't stopped shouting about this book since. She has woven a poignant and beautiful world for Harmony to find herself in and discover what happened in her past, whilst also giving to me (the reader) an image and feeling of London which I instantly recognised.

My absolute favourite book of 2018 so far!

The Tyranny of Lost Things is the fabulous debut novel from Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett.

It is a beautifully written, coming-of-age story told from two different narratives, across two different periods of time. It tells of the pain that childhood secrets can cause when they eventually come out and the impact it can have on a person to discover that their parents are human, and humans sometimes make mistakes.

It took me a few pages to get a feel for the writing, but when I did I found that I struggled to put the book down!

Thank you to the publisher for sending me a free copy, I'm already excited to see what's next from the author!

A fantastic debut novel, that captures time and place perfectly.

You really get transported into Harmony's world from the very first page, following her on her journey as she deals with loss, trauma, and relationships, as she is haunted by secrets from her past.

A brilliant, evocative read.

5 stars.

I loved this book - Rhiannon's produced an absolutely fantastic coming of age novel, covering coming to terms with your parents as human beings, housing and communal living, and generally finding your feet as a woman in your twenties.
