Fun and fast paced read. The characters motivations were clear and reasonable. The dynamic between them was nuanced and felt like real relationships. Every choice the characters made didn't feel like they carried the weight of the realm on their shoulders which was a nice change of pace from other dnd novels I've read.

The easter eggs from the greater Forgotten Realms lore were effective while still being approachable to new readers. Gave it five stars as it's the most fun I've had reading a dnd book in a while. Also made me excited for the movie this story is a prequel of. Thanks for the read.

I adored every minute of this! Such a fun prequel novel, centered around various mysteries as the found-family comes together.

The voice acting by Fred Berman is fantastic — his voice for Holga in particular is so perfect

I've never played D&D in my life. My only association with it is having seen the Honor Among Thieves film that this book is a prequel to, which I greatly enjoyed. I decided to pick this up since I enjoyed the movie so much and it had decent reviews, but I wasn't expecting to have as good of a time with it as I did! This book is so much fun and was even better having seen the movie! I liked the writing and the characters and it felt like how I imagine a D&D game might go! It's not gonna win any awards but I can't really think of anything negative about it, so 5 stars it is!

This is the first fantasy book I've read since I was a teenager and was a good way to get back into the genre. I loved the movie, and this is a good companion.

A delightfully fun read. It captures the characters from the movie extremely well, and I liked getting to spend more time with them as a crew. It was especially nice getting more of Forge's interactions with the group. It's very accessible, while having a lot of nods to the wider universe of D&D.

This was fun! It seemed obvious to me that it was written with universal appeal in mind—which isn’t a bad thing, it just made the book skew a bit more juvenile and simple. Again, not a bad thing, but worth noting. This is a quick and enjoyable read that allows you to spend more time with the characters you already love from the movie. I think most of the characters felt pretty true to the film versions, with the exception of Sofina. She’s so mysterious and creepy in the movie while in this she feels more snooty and high society.

I loved the movie so when I saw the book, I was intrigued!
It was a cute story with a good adventure, but it’s not really my preferred style of writing.  Im glad I read it, but it’s not a book I’d keep and read again.
One thing I do love about the characters, both in the book and the movie, is how they’re open with their feelings (especially the male characters).  It’s something I really value, and I think it sets a good example for people about how men showing feelings,  appreciation and love to their friends isn’t weak, it’s normal and beautiful

A short and simple read of the adventures of the DnD crew, what more could you want?
