Likable characters and a more plot focused book.
I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It was really good, and more adult like (in a sense of gore and heavy themes) than I originally anticipated, but I really liked it.
Each character brought something different to the story and it was a great use of character.
The epilogue was a nice touch and very Wonderland-like because of the randomness.

This was a rollercoaster of a book! I read it from 31st jan to 1st feb because i’m on an alice in wonderland roll. i wanted this book to be mine (it is a library book) so i could write comments in the sides lol. for a major part of the book i was so confused because the author said that alice had only been to wonderland once before, but really it had been twice (from the book through the looking glass). however on literally the last page it’s revealed that this book takes place between the previous two books. it was very clever but i was not pleased with the seeming lack of research. but that’s all fixed! some of it did not feel like the alice in wonderland world, but obviously it’s been written by a different author in a different time so that’s to be expected. it did make the looking glass story make more sense! it was a wild book and very interesting. i found there were some - i don’t know how to describe this - ideas that provoke thought in the real world. for instance alice says ‘only in wonderland it’s nonsense that the poor pay for food and the rich get it for free’ and there’s also ideas of xenophobia and sexism that are sort of touched on. seeing the story through alice’s eyes showed resistance to these issues but they were still there are perpetuated by other minor characters. a minor thing i didn’t like was that two chapters consisted of only 1 sentence where it could easily have been in the previous chapter. but i’m no author. but yes i enjoyed this book and the ending was rather sweet.
Moderate: Violence and Kidnapping

Liz Braswell did it again with this book! This is written with such an interesting style that it immediately captivated me and I did not want to put it down!! Do beware of several gory/bloody descriptions, though. Despite this, I fully enjoyed the mad, wonderful way this story happened and even the romantic subplot was done fantastically as well. I can't say enough about how unique this story was and I absolutely adored revisiting Alice.
