I did not expect things to go the route they went, but the way they did go - holy hell! That's some amazing fantasy with surprises and battles and imagery.
Ryhalt is, for me, the most memorable male character in fantasy. What a legend!

I adored this! I won't be saying much about this book because of spoilers, but I'll give you a mini series review:

- I loved the world-building and dark atmosphere, they were incredibly vivid. The creatures were awful and villains terrifying. I bet I will remember this series a long time and go back to Misery in my thoughts. I hope that I won't have any nightmares about darlings or gillings...

- The series included some horror elements and it was a bit nasty to read at times.

- The arc of our main character Galharrow was wild. His journey was full of struggles and there was nothing he wasn't ready to do for the people he loved.

- I loved the friendships and family in this series! Would love to have Nenn as my friend :D

- The books were quick to read and fast paced. The prose was simple, pretty basic, but it was also impactful.

I highly recommend this series to all dark epic fantasy readers!

I can’t seem to fathom how each book got better than the last, but here we are.

This was an epic finale that was a strong payoff for the whole story.

This really encapsulates a huge war well, which I’ve never really found in any book before.

This world was phenomenally crafted. I hope I can write a world as strong as this someday.

I could probably gush more but just read The Raven’s Mark and don’t leave it on your shelf for years like I did.

Awesome. Simply Awesome. What a satisfying conclusion to what for me was the best fantasy trilogy going since last year. I absolutely devoured these books and loved every second of them. I've been reading for 40 years, have sampled most fantasy and sci-fi writers out there and Mr. McDonald has soared to the top of my must-read-their-book-the-day-it-comes out authors list. Beautiful writing, damn near poetic at times, but also visceral, grim, and realistic without ever becoming hopeless. Characters are absolutely believable, you become invested them immediately, and the writing is tight, the story arcs woven skillfully, and best of all the conclusion wrapped everything up in a complete, reasonably surprising, and eminently satisfying way. Hate the lazy, un-satisfying ending of season 8 GoT? Then treat yourself to this series. Crowfall is a masterclass in how to wrap things up while leaving your audience thrilled. Right now Ed McDonald is a criminally unappreciated and under-read grimdark genius but I hope that changes for him soon. This will probably be my favorite book of the year and I highly recommend the entire series

New favorite series. Might have a serious book hangover after these.

A strong finisher to this trilogy. It is more broody than the previous two, as it focuses more on Galharrow personally. I think this was a wise choice from the author, the series risked to end with little depth otherwise. But don't get worried, there's plenty of grim and dark action too!

Really enjoyed the entire trilogy following the adventures of Ryhalt Galharrow, son of… well, you’ll find out. I particularly liked book two, while book three reminded me of a very grand D&D campaign with many twists, turns and changes of scenery.
