'The worst part of global warming isn’t all the fear and loss. It’s discomfort.' Vic, 13

This is my favorite so far in the series about Global Warming available on Amazon Prime for free. This is set in the (possibly) not so distant future. It's hot, water is rationed, there's very little employment and almost no schooling. The latest generation of children don't even reach physical maturity because of the climate and malnourishment.

Vic's father commits suicide and she is on a mission, first to replace his income, and eventually to figure out why. This was short, quick and compelling. In broad brush stroke, in very few pages, Lepucki made the world feel real to me. Made me care about Vic.

Not what I’d expected:

Though this story is set in Los Angeles, the general outline and main character reminds me of Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. If you enjoyed it, then will be a compatible short story.

Considering this book was only 34 pages it really packed a punch!
It very quickly drew me in and I felt like engaged with the characters.
The depiction of the world a few years forward from now in the midst of the climate crisis was truly terrifying.
A brilliant short little read, 4*

This is probably my favorite of the Warmer collection. I may increase my rating later, but I genuinely enjoyed this story regardless of if it's 3 stars or 4.

So well written. I'd read more from the author for sure.
