The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis

This is a take on visitors from another planet I haven't encountered anywhere else. The idea that this was written before the moon landing, and before the bulk of what has made science fiction what it is today, really shows in Tevis' characterization of the extraterrestrial. What struck me, though, is that in the end, Newton is surprisingly human.

I adored this book! The characters felt lived in and realistic with each of them having their own unique quirks and flaws and point of view. Thomas Newton himself was incredibly well written, feeling just peculiar enough to be alien yet just familiar enough to be relatable. Experiencing earth from a non-human point of view was eye opening and made me question what it really means to be human, and if we are as intelligent as we think we are. A beautiful and timeless novel.

This one started great, intrigued me from chapter one. The ending though, not sure what I think about that. It's bleak, very bleak.
Not even sure how to rate it.
