A series of short biographies highlighting key members of thenVanderbilt family from the first to the “last.” Some of them were more I there sting than others, but I enjoyed the book. Be careful of who you envy - money can’t buy everything!

Perfect reading after Social Graces and The Gilded Age. Anderson’s telling feels personal, but also informative.

Would have been 5 stars but I found the chapters about Gloria Vanderbilt a bit harder to follow and less crisp. Overall a very interesting read that weaves the history of the family with New York and world history in a compelling, educational way.
