What in the heck is all the hype for surrounding this book?
Cringy and honestly sooo boring until maybe the last 20ish pages and by the point I was just glad I was done with it.

I’m distraught. I’m not gonna lie and say I enjoyed this book from beginning to end, but the end made up for it while simultaneously making me regret I picked up this book. I’m so upset right now, what possessed Laura Nowlin to do this to me!? Overall 3.5, the beginning drug.

i’m not sure yet of my thoughts on this book as i have just finished it five minutes ago, but what is certain is that it captivated me. it did have quite a few traits that didn’t correlate with me, but they didn’t stop me from wanting to find out what the deal was about this book. it has a great score on goodreads, people recommend it online, and i even saw a classmate of mine reading it, so of course i had to try to understand the hype. sadly, i didn’t, but i can’t say that i regret picking it up. the story gets progressively better and at one point you get used to autumn’s “quirky” and “i’m so different” persona. yeah, she’s pretty and she knows it. oh she’s also weird 🤪 and people don’t get her. i could see the ending coming but it still somehow shocked me. the last few pages were sort of hard to grasp. i guess the book ends on a cliffhanger that i saw as unnecessary because it wasn’t an open ending - it was just a confusing ending. also, it doesn’t really have a plot???? we follow their relationship’s development through their high school years but somehow it felt shallow as if not a lot actually happened. personally, too much jamie, it could’ve used more finn. he could’ve been an interesting character, but the author just didn’t show us enough of his personality (oh! she wrote another book from HIS pov so she could make more money. got it). a book that was sorta decent but at the same time not worth it. had i been 14 while reading this oh boy would i have found my new favourite book

I was able to skip from chapter 35 to 65 and did not miss anything. I was able to jump 4 more chapters after listening to the one and again, I did it miss anything. This is a very typical teenage love story. I'm sure most can relate to loving a best friend while dating another when you're young. This story just lasted way too long without progressing. I won't be recommending this one.

The book was an easy read; the chapters were short & straight to the point. I felt hopeful for the main characters & found myself really rooting for them. I enjoyed it (:

2.5 ⭐️

If the writing style intended for this book to sound like a teenager — whiny, angsty, and juvenile — then the author did a great job at that.

The story was okay. I felt like I was reading a diary. Had I not listened to this in audiobook format, I think I would have dropped the book.

The FMC (Autumn) thinks that she is not like the other girls, but she 100% is. But I think the relationships among friends, and lovers are very realistic for someone at her age.

What I didn’t like was how serious themes were taken too lightly, and sometimes brushed off even.

Teenage pregnancy, depression, divorce, suicide, sexual abuse, and another teenage pregnancy. I felt like these issues were sprinkled on top of an average high school love story to make it more interesting. It just felt off for me.

This story made me “feel” things, so I guess it’s okay. Wish we have more of Finny.
