A quick read that was like the fairy tale I wish I’d had growing up. The chapters tend to time skip from challenge to challenge in the tournament and a lot of world building and character development kind of suffered a little for it, but I can’t fault the book for doing the job I’d been hoping it would do, which was get me out of the reading slump my last read had put me into.
I could have easily devoured this book in one sitting if I’d had the energy to focus, but I’m glad I didn’t because I would have been disappointed to have it over so soon.
My only question is: What was the engagement present? Rath decides not to open it until it becomes a sure thing but then we never see what was inside!
