I hated this book so much that I almost DNF'ed it but I was so close to done that I just listened to it on 1.5-1.75 speed just to finish it.  I usually like Sager so this was a big disappointment for me. None of the characters are developed beyond having a single thing they like and a predominant feeling or two. The MC likes movies and feels sad and guilty. Her bf likes math and swimming and is reliable. Her dead friend liked theater and attention and was selfish but fun!  It's a thriller so I guess we can forgive all of these stock characters. What really made me not like this book is that the MC continuously makes the worst possible decisions (like so bad and so dumb) and that she has a mental illness that is clearly a plot device. The plot has a number of ridiculous twists and turns, and by the end, I couldn't have cared less who the killer was or why any of it was happening. Honestly, I'd have been happier if the car crashed into a building and then exploded, killing everyone and putting me out of my misery. I don't know who this book is for but it wasn't for me. Maybe it's for all the men who like dumb women and bad movies.  The next Sager book I read had better be better. I need the memory of this one to be expunged.

Christ. I’m on a bit of a roll picking a handful of awful audiobooks. This is slow, repetitive, and trite, aside from being sexist and body-gory for fun (I guess??) rather than any plot or structural reasons. I thought it was kind of run-of-the-mill bad for most of the book and then the ending was so cutesy and pasted on - like putting rom-com lipstick on a garbage-book pig. Truly not good.

Amazing plot twist that I did not see coming at all. A somewhat difficult glimpse at struggles with grief and mental wellness, but then with twists and turns throughout.
