A rather non-stereotypical YA novel with two struggling main characters and a big focus on the power of friendship. Heartwarming :)

I absolutely adore Aled! He needs to be protected at all costs. It's very clear his mom is mentally ill and abusive. This book gives a lot of context to Aled's character if you've only read Heartatopper.

This was the best oseman book I’ve read! It was incredible I read it in 2 days. It was just amazing and reading Ollie’s copy just made it so much better!

I really enjoyed this book! I have no idea why I put off reading it for so long. I felt like the plot twists were great, and I liked how we slowly discover new things about the characters as we go on (not just bombarded with backstories off the bat). There were conflicts up until the second to last chapter, but it was all resolved nicely. I know this is a standalone but if Oseman ever decides to make another book with these characters, I’ll be front of the line to preorder it :)

I would have been absolutely obsessed with this book as a teenager. I feel like it is a must read for any high-schooler who puts pressure on themselves to get the best grades or who isn’t sure what they want to do after they leave school. It was a tense yet beautiful story that explored so many themes but never once felt rushed. True friendships blossomed, uniqueness was celebrated, sexual identities were explored, school and home pressures were tackled. There were cliff hangers and “omg WHAT” moments that I really enjoyed, paired with a happy ending - that’s my kind of story!
