This was a perfect book to scratch my small town itch that I can't seem to get rid of right now.
Not only was it sweet, but it also had a decent plot that kept me on my toes for most of the book. Maybe I'm just completely dense, but I did not see the plot twist coming lmao. She did a good job at setting up the next book for the next couple, too. Definitely think I'll be reading it.
I really loved all of the side characters and thought their personalities were fleshed out pretty well. I especially loved all the animals in the story hehe.

I came I got this book with high expectations because of the hype. The writing was very repetitive and I felt like the characters said the same things and had the same concerns consistently. I liked the concept and the small town mystery feel but overall nothing special:

As much as I loved Hayes as a character I had a hard time really getting into this story. I wanted to love it I did but if you are a frequent reader of Catherine's you notice the pattern. Her stories are all too similar and seem to end the same way. They are romance with a pinch of suspense thrown in. A lot of times it is obvious who the one committing the crimes is. I figured it out fairly quickly while reading Tattered Stars.
Overall it was not a bad story just not one I would read more than once.

I am in love with the slow burn in this book. I couldn’t put it down because I enjoyed the tension and waiting for the moment! And boy, it was everything and more I wanted!!
