RATINGS: 4 STARS

I like this cute story! The illustrations are great. This book would have been perfect for 5 year old me. I was terrified that I would never be picked up from school so I made my mom sit there - and I would make sure she was still there every five minutes. Matthew has thoughts about what if his dad's car breaks down, how will he come pick him up. Great for the little ones starting school!

An anxious child wonders how his dad will pick him up from daycare if the car breaks down. The dad comes up with one imaginative solution after another, but the child has many questions. This book is sweet and shows just how much the dad loves his child. This would make for very good bonding time with dad.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

Adorable read about how no matter what, a father will be there to pick his son up from school. Funny illustrations with bright colors.

Adorable picture book about a father reassuring his child that he will be back to pick him up from kindergarten no matter what obstacles may lay in his path. Both pictures and words make this an engaging read.

A love letter to fathers. Would avoid for kids who don't have fathers or father figures in their lives. This father is a very specific type of father. (Middle-class, white-collar)

The illustrations are very nice, with the exception of the character design of the father, who looks more like a villain than a loving father. Maybe this was intended? I mean, we're not supposed to judge by appearances, right? Not even cartoons... with pointy noses and too-small feet...

What a wonderful story. Remember the old nursery song about a diamond ring and a mocking bird? Well this is a newer, if similar story. But instead of buying things, it's about always being there. I absolutely loved it. The illustrations were icing on this cake. Both colorful and fun, but simplistic in the best way.

This is the type of book where you end up with like a rube Goldberg type of chain of events. In this case they were hypothetical. It was an enjoyable book and the illustrations were done in a really fun style.
