I started this series on a whim because of an online book discussion about Mardi Gras and I am from New Orleans. I figured I would just read book one and call it a day. Well here I am now finishing book 2 and can't wait to start the third. These are really fun quick reads and even though I have other things I need to read, I can't help but want to binge this series.

I really love the elements of New Orleans captured by Ms. Mooney. For me, some of it is redundant, because I am very familiar with the area; however, its perfect to give someone the feel of the land. I am not a huge fan of too much romance and I do not care for love triangles and this was a big part of book 2. There are a few scenes and references in this book that I think just may cross or come very close to crossing the line to be considered a "cozy" mystery. With that being said, it has not stopped me from wanting to continue on with the series.

In book 2, Julia and her promiscuity get tangled up in a murder investigation. With the help of Brandy and her new friend Jiff, she is trying to clear her name. Brandy can't seem to move on from Dante and since he is the lead officer handling the case, he is not making it easy for her. Throw in a big, fat, New Orleans Italian wedding and you have a wild time. The police do not seem to be looking at other suspects besides Julia and it looks like someone may be out to get Brandy. Can Brandy help clear her best friend's name before she becomes the next victim?
