Many short bizarre stories that are not for me, but glad that they work for others.

Technically, I didn’t finish this. I stopped 3 stories from the end. I just, really had no interest in continuing. Maybe another time, I’ll be more receptive to it. It very well might be a good book, I just really didn’t like it. A lot of it felt like weirdness for weirdness’ sake, without any deep “aha moments” of recognition within the metaphors and allegories. Maybe it just went over my head, maybe I picked it up at the wrong time in my life, maybe these stories just aren’t ones of the kind I enjoy, maybe they were simply written for someone else.

As with all books of short stories, some were better than others here. But I loved how they were all interlaced, and after the first two or so they were really good, and interesting, and sometimes anxiety-inducing. The last one (one of the more out there--but exactly what a good short story shoudl be) had a line that will stick with me for a long time--something like "She could endure the brutality of the moment for the clarity that it brought her." (I listened to the audiobook, so getting this exact is a challenge.)

But probably my favorite part? The offhand mention of Surfer Cooler, the least known but far and away best Capri Sun flavor. Ling Ma is my people.
