This is maybe less useful to me than to my wife, which is really why I read it. It's quite affirming for people who struggle with "simple" care tasks, and contains some practical advice.

Extremely compassionate approach to managing “care tasks” when executive functioning is low (temporarily or always). KC takes the reader through an empathetic set up, explaining her own experiences throughout, then shares tips that feel actually useful, mantras that a reader can come away with as life lessons, and a tear-down of what we think the “rules” are and why. I particularly liked the chapters where she explored that single-use plastic is okay when you need it - you can’t save the environment when you’re depressed - and the discussion around sharing care tasks with a partner - it’s not about equal work, but about equitable opportunities for rest and recreation.
The book’s overall message is one I’ve spent most of my life decoupling from: cleanliness is not morality. But it was nice to get that reminder.
