August 2022: an audiobook by Hugh Grant. Okay but not a favorite.

I've known the story for years, but reading Dickens' words made it a lot better than any TV version I've ever watched. There's a lot more depression in it, despite its short length. The ending was a lot swifter than I expected, but it still managed to touch my heart.

Brilliant! I started listening to this book this morning, just finished now and will buy the book on the walk home so I can read it again and again. Such a simple, clever idea.

This story was more wonderful than I had expected. I had preconceived ideas based on the many many movie adaptations I've seen, but as often is the case, the movies are poor adaptations of an incredibly well written story. I love the clever descriptions Dickens uses: "The water-plug being left in solitude, its overflowing sullenly congealed, and turned to misanthropic ice." He really hit that on the head, isn't all untended ice misanthropic? Wonderful.
Scrooges reactions to the three spirits are moving, a real redemption story.
The illustrations in this edition are wonderful, full of emotion and feeling.
