I really loved this book! It's by far one of the best I've read in a while. I can't believe it's the authors first book.

This was such an amazing historical fiction; it is tragic, beautiful and inspiring. It is a book I felt very connected to.

There are many stories about generational trauma, but this was a story about generational strength. It was about women who drew on the bravery and grit of the women who came before them, so that they may find it in themselves to choose the right path. It was slow at times, and a few times I was frustrated by the pacing, but overall it was a meaningful read.
