This wasn't a favorite of mine. It started out really strong, and I know this is a novella, but there are so many plot holes and things that didn't quite bridge the gap for me.
Sadie wasn't my type of girl. She was inexplicably drawn to this masked man at first sight, all worked up and hot under the collar and I don't know how she got to that level. Like...sister, calm down. The "mask kink" in this wasn't kinky because other than seeing this masked man Sadie doesn't seem to feel any kind of way about masks—the actual kink was having unprotected sex with a stranger in a seemingly dangerous setting, which is indeed a valid kink but is also not the kink being advertised. Her decision to hide…DNA, if you will, didn't make sense because she owed that man zero loyalty. Especially since she spent the days after the event literally scared for her life like what? Girl you could have helped you and your friends by opening your mouth. I'm so glad Sadie isn't my friend because if I got hurt by someone you protected I would fight you in a Walmart parking lot. I also felt like Sadie's moments of speaking Spanish were sprinkled in like parsley at odd moments BUT I am not Latinx, nor do I speak Spanish, so that is where I will be ending my point.
The serial unaliver's motivations made no sense. If he was planning to blue skidoo off planet earth by the end of the night, why did he go to the attraction? Go do you boo boo, leave everyone else out of it! Why did the attraction actor have to die? Why did he feel like the jocks needed to die? We're led to believe he's been unaliving people for a while but he doesn't even brag about them, he's just like "this is the skin of a killer and I don't wanna talk about it, okie?" Am I supposed to think him trauma bonding with Sadie and being like 🥺 you saved me 🥺 is hot? Yuck!
Thalia is by no means a bad writer; I'd give her work another try. I feel like I expected a vibe more along the lines of The Dare by Harley Laroux. This was ultimately somewhat a low stakes, underwhelming read for me because it wasn't kinky or scary and it barely made sense. I think this is a good read for the women who write to serial killers in jail LMAO

What was this. It was so random and like Sadie was so dumb.
