It’s kind of masterful how this series is sexy but not lewd, and still with plenty of room for dick jokes and dildo fights. Hmm. Maybe it is lewd. But it’s also really funny and honest, and doesn’t idealize love or sex or the central relationship - it’s not perfect, by any means, which is a relief to see in popular culture. Yeah, sometimes they have great sex and witty banter. But other times they have bad sex or sex with awkward timing or fights where they just want to hurt each other and they know all the most hurtful things to say. It’s a weird little science fiction universe but it’s also really real.

This one immediately turned me off with its art style. I feel it's sloppy and messy, visually. More than a couple times I felt like the characters' moods were misrepresented by the artist. Like, "oh this part is sad - why is the character smiling?" kind of stuff.

However, the story is fantastic! It was pretty cool for the first few issues, but it suddenly turned into something I couldn't put down. I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of this one. Oh, and it's legitimately funny. I definitely laughed harder at this than I do most books. Sadly this volume ends in a cliffhanger so I'll be waiting to see what happens next..

Hopefully it involves hiring a new artist.
