I wanted to like this book. The plot was decent, it was just way to cheesy and I strongly disliked the love at first sight crap.

Julie Kagawa has done it again. I LOVED this short audiobook. Vampires/Zombies stories might be overdone to some, but I still love them, if they are well written. Not only was this written very well but the narrator that was chosen for the audiobook was an excellent choice. I was excited to read this, yet apprehensive, as I fell in love with Amanda Hocking's Hollowmen series and wanted this to be in that same feeling/area. For me it was, and for that the book was even more wonderful. Glad that I picked up this novella first before I started the actual series that this goes with, and I cannot wait to begin it.

Not as suspenseful and actionpacked as [b:The Immortal Rules|10215349|The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)|Julie Kagawa|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1323357921s/10215349.jpg|15114912], but that's because we knew most everything that Kylie was trying to figure out. Still a great story by Kagawa, as always. Loved Kanin and the Archers' appearances, as they were nice touches but didn't intrude on the main story (which is important in my opinion for a prequel not directly connected to the first book!)

Loved the creepfest. Specially where the
Spoilerrabid held Jenna's head like a football. Gruesomely attractive stuff.

I have been wanting to read this origin story ever since it was released, but I wasn't really interested in reading the other stories included. Then I found this story for cheap on audible and had to scoop it up! I really enjoyed it. It was dark and spooky and a great lead in to the Immortal Rules trilogy. There is even a Kanin cameo! There was only one thing I was confused about. The title is Dawn of Eden. When I first heard about it, I just thought of it as a reference to the series, but as the story unfolded I kept thinking we were going to see the start of the city Eden. In the end, while the characters seemed determined to fight and protect their land, the property wasn't on water (and was in the wrong part of the country) and thus couldn't be the start of the human only haven. I'm confused whether I read too much in to the title or missed something.

Great prequel story for the series. At bit more adult that books 1 & 2 so I would caution teens about this.
