Definitely Dead
4 Stars

Sookie must travel to New Orleans at the Queen of Louisiana's behest to finalize her deceased cousin Hadley's estate. But someone doesn't want her arriving in one piece, and the suspects range from rogue weres to treacherous vampires to Sookie's former lover, Bill Compton. Can Sookie stay alive long enough to find out what's going on?

Series note: Hadley's demise is recounted in the very short novella One Word Answer, but it is not necessary to read it to follow the events in this installment.

In terms of the plot, there are, once again, several intertwining threads that raise the question of how one small yet snarky woman can get into so much trouble in such a short period of time. In addition to a group of newly turned weres who want to turn her into kibble, Sookie finds a severed corpse in her garden and a rabid vampire in a closet.

With all of these goings on, it should be difficult for Sookie to even think of having a love life, but our intrepid herione has no problem in this department either. With Calvin, Alcide, Bill and Eric more or less out of the picture, Sookie's new beau is Quinn the huge and hunky tiger shifter. Only time will tell if he is her match made in heaven or hell.

All in all, Sookie's adventures are a laugh-riot and should never be taken too seriously. Looking forward to the next one.

This was the last book I read back in 2009 in this series, and weirdly enough these last two I've remembered one main event and NOTHING else. Both events involved Quinn and I thought they were in the same book before I reread them. Last book I only really remembered the pack master trial thing and Quinn licking Sookie's leg, and this book I distinctly remembered the swamp scene and NOTHING else. It was like I'd never read it until that point which is probably why I loved it so much. Anyway, I'm still finding it odd that I remember all but the two most recently read. Granted I basically marathon read them so it wasn't like it was ages before, but I'm thinking because some scenes match up with the TV show (more so the first one or two seasons and nothing else) that may be why I remember them so clearly?

Anyway, I STILL love Quinn. Still on the fence about Eric because he's a drama maker. Alcide isn't on my radar anymore angling with Sam, and Bill is satan. I mean, I still feel a little bad for him but I don't at the same time. You don't take a girls virginity for that. Seduce doesn't always mean fuck. He would have easily had her moony eyed without the sex she was dumb as rocks back then! Okay she still kind of is but shh!

I also felt there was less life threatening. Last book she was in hospital more times than I could count and it was ridiculous! This one she gets banged up but alas only one hospital visit and she leaves anyway.

And now I have to wait two more weeks for the next book because I thought I had the next two, when in fact I have 9&10 so when I ordered books 11&12 (because I ordered 13 when I ordered this one because it was on sale) I realised I DIDNT have 7&8 and now I just want more because I haven't ever read them and I NEED it! Ahhhhhhhh.

Finally finished! I really like the narrator of this audiobook. As for the story, it was okay. Review in a few days... or months..
