After reading the first couple chapters of this book, I almost wrote it off as typical chick lit (which I don't usually read or enjoy). But I kept reading despite that…the characters were fun and lively, and I liked the premise of the plot. Watching the main character discover herself through a series of events her mother knew she would go through was heartwarming and sometimes emotional. A fun read, but with some depth.

I liked this book more than I expected to. I wanted to give it a rating of about 3.5, but rounded up to 4. I found it to be an engaging read where I was genuinely interested in the characters and what happened. The plot line - a woman's receipt of her inheritance from her mother depends on her completion of a list of goal's she made as a teenager, some of which seem near impossible since it's been 20 years since she wrote them - is unique. While I would categorize this book as chick lit, I was pleasantly surprised that the love story portion didn't take over the book, nor did it follow the typical sequence of events normally found in such books.

I enjoyed reading how Brett went through this list of goals and figured out how to accomplish each one. I really liked how, for her, it never really seemed to be about the money. Well, maybe it was at first, because she had been expecting something quite different when she gathered with her family for the reading of her late mother's will. But her motivation quickly turned to doing those things she had dreamed of once - and found she did dream of still - and becoming more of the person her mother saw in her, the person her mother felt that she, Brett, had perhaps forgotten about, or was trying to hide.

FYI, there are obscenities, used, in my opinion, rather unnecessarily; and one minor sexual encounter. Otherwise it is fairly clean.

a great plane read of a heart warming tale of a women rediscovering her teenage dreams through her mum's death wishes. of course, far fetched in places but lovely anyway.

What a great book! This had been sitting on my Kindle for a little while and on a flight home I needed a new read and I figured this looked like a perfect summer read. Little did I know this book had found me instead. Easy read, yes, but deeply moving, funny, thought-provoking, and smart as well.

I could not put this book down. A story of loss, a daughter and her mother, finding her true self and finding true happiness. This was an amazing book.

It was a cute quick read. A little predictable but that's expected in this type of books.

Good book!

Brett had a very unconventional mother who kept a life list hidden away until after her death. Over the course of the next year, her dreams are brought to life. It's like watching a caterpillar transform into a butterfly.

It has been a long time since I had a book grab my attention and that I had such a satisfying day reading almost the entire thing. What a great story, and great, thought-provoking subject. Loved this book.
