This is a dense book, full of detail, primary and secondary sources, including all available data. Which, in a way, is part of the problem. There was a lot going on in that corner of Arizona at the time, so the book starts out with lots of tangled threads and things that you're not sure why they're relevant. All of these threads come together in a big tangled knot at the O.K. Corral, and then once again go along on their separate ways. It's shaped like a literary hourglass. It's all fascinating but a bit overwhelming. The story isn't simple or clear cut, there aren't really good guys or bad guys, which will frustrate those who want a clear cut narrative to follow, but there's a reason I was told that this was one of the best books on the subject.
