A few times Worth did also devote a chapter to social or medical issues. While they often offered valuable insight for the story, they weren’t completely necessary.
The last two chapters while fulfilling were heartbreaking. They were a goodbye. In more sense than one.

I found this the most difficult to read of the midwife books due to the very graphic descriptions of medical rape and abortions. Very interesting and informative, but not for the faint of heart!rachaelbunny's review against another edition
