The Best of Friends is a complicated, heartbreaking story of 3 women who are lifelong friends, their husbands and children. Their teenage sons are involved in a tragedy that forever changes them all. Great storytelling by Lucinda Berry (yet again!).

eh, it was okay. Three different couples with multiple children and everyone plays a role so it was really hard for me to remember which person went with each point of view because it changes with each chapter.

This was a page turner for me and I thought really captured the grief of these three women. I’d deduct a half star to a star because there were a few plot points brought up but never delved into. Not that they were the important answer as to what happened that night with their sons…but as we were getting to know these women and all their turmoil I kind of was intrigued enough to want to know more. Some other reviews have said that the voices of the women didn’t differ enough so you have to go back and double check on the POV you are reading. I can say there were a few times where I had to double-check but it wasn’t to the point of me being confused whose POV it was in the moment.

What a great read. I completely enjoyed it so much I couldn’t put it down! The characters were such strong personalities and the ending was simply put fantastic!

I picked up "The Best of Friends" by Lucinda Berry after being impressed by her previous work, "The Perfect Child." However, this book didn't quite live up to my expectations. While Berry is undoubtedly a skilled author, this particular story just didn't resonate with me.
The storyline felt somewhat lackluster and didn't engage me as I had hoped. It's hard to put my finger on it, but something about the narrative left me feeling a bit indifferent. As I progressed through the book, I found myself struggling to maintain interest, and it felt somewhat redundant at times.
Perhaps my expectations were set high due to the TikTok recommendation and my positive experience with Berry's previous work, but "The Best of Friends" fell short of capturing my attention and enthusiasm. It's not a bad book by any means, but it didn't offer the level of engagement and excitement I was anticipating.

It started off slow and I thought about adding it to my DNF list but I’m so glad I didn’t. I struggled to get attached to the characters but damn the ending got me. It’s now added to the short list of book that have made me cry.

This book came up on my recommended list on my kindle and I was intrigued.
This story revolves around three friends who’s sons are also friends. There is a tragic accident and one of the boys is dead, another on life support, and the third survived but has not been able to speak or function due to the shock of the incident and the story unfolds as to what really happened. That’s basically the story in a nutshell, the mothers all harbor secrets, which baffled me as I tell my best friend almost everything, and the three have some major secrets I just can’t imagine holding in.
I have a big complaint about this story! The story bounces between each friend and I felt I had to constantly look up or read back to verify who was who. I’ve read many a story with more than one POV and have never felt this lost. Based on this I gave it two stars, and the extra star was because in the midst of my confusion the awakening these woman each meet as a mother was relatable.

Skip the epilogue. The book would be better without it!
