To be very clear, the book is stellar. Just because I wasn't the biggest fan doesn't mean you shouldn't read it. It's very poignant and picturesque. I simply am not one to connect with so depressing a story.

A beautiful and heartbreaking novel. The last few pages were devastating and truly brought tears to my eyes! I'm not usually a big historical fiction reader but as I'm soon to see the new stage production of The Book Thief and after loving the film I thought it was about time I delved into this. 

I am genuinely glad I did pick this up as it has taken a firm grip on my heart and I'm not sure if or when it will let go. A sensational read for anyone who loves books and words and the power they hold in this world, especially when something so profound is happening such as a war. 

I urge you to consider giving this a chance.

this book is so devastatingly beautiful. there are some slower parts but you get to learn so much more about the characters and begin to fall in love with them.
