thebookishlibrarian's review
Clinton Kelly’s memoir is funny and snarky, and delights the reader with stories from his childhood all the way to his professional life. Along the way, he reveals never-before-told secrets about himself, and offers advice on how to navigate life’s trickiest of situations.

I thoroughly enjoy this book. I could tell after reading chapter one that I was going to enjoy Kelly's stories and writing style. Mr Kelly's book "I Hate Everyone, Except You" made me laugh and cry. I enjoyed his sense of humor when telling a story.
I am only a year older than Clinton and can relate to his stories. I have to confess that I have never watched "What Not to Wear", "The Chew", or anything he has co-hosted. Yes, there is vulgar language in the book. Are these required, it is hard to say. I am surprised to see so many people who do not enjoy this book. Maybe because I do not know this famous person and TV co-host, I read it to hear the challenges he has encounter in his life up to now along with the underlying messages. He talks about his failures and success. Maybe they are not from that generation or didn't have a bad time in high school. I am glad I read this book. Mr. Kelly, if you are reading this, I hope I haven't made you think you are a psychopath. I would be your worse enemy. I struggle with grammar daily.

To be fully honest I don't think this is worth reading unless you have an interest in Clinton Kelley. I wanted something short and light to listen to while I waited for my holds to come up on Libby and this did the job.
Moderate: Body shaming, Fatphobia, and Sexual assault
Minor: Ableism and Sexual content

This book had me laughing out loud several times. I have always enjoyed Kelly's on-air persona, and the glimpse he provides into his personal life cements that for me. There are some "Hollywood dirt" anecdotes in here, but most of the stories focus on friendships, relationships and being a dog owner (though I think the dog may own him). A quick read that I recommend for a day at the beach or pool. Just bring your short white bathing trunks.

I enjoyed this and it was not at all what I expected. I received a free advance ebook copy from NetGalley.
