I've been using this book as my ''palate cleanser'' as I've called it; reading one story between every book I read, pretty much. So it took me 5 months to get through it!
There are many good stories in here; The Castle Of Otranto by Horace Walpole, The Sandman by E.T.A. Hoffmann, The Vampyre by John William Polidori, Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu, The Transformation by Mary Shelley, Rappaccini's Daughter by Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Withered Arm by Thomas Hardy, The Abbot's Ghost by A.M. Barnard, The Dead Smile by F. Marion Crawford, The Spider by Hanns Heinz Ewers and of course; The Phantom Of The Opera by Gaston Leroux.
There actually weren't many stories in here I had read before, so I really enjoyed expanding my horizon with both authors who were new to me, as well as ones I already knew.
Definitely recommend this collection if you are a fan of the victorian gothic!
