This was such a good book! But there were definitely times I wanted to smack Yinka into some sense. I love the touches on colorism and the importance of her getting help before she found what she was looking for, and the strong support systems. The author created a funny, witty story that carried a powerful message.

This one surprised me so much in the best way possible. I thought this was going to be a cute, “Yinka needs to find a man for the wedding” romance, but it is SO MUCH deeper than that and discusses a lot of important themes with family, societal and cultural pressures. I picked this one up in my BOTM box as an add-on, and I highly recommend it for those that want an easy-to-read story with a lot of depth.

This book is so British it’s crazy (as much as I can tell as someone who’s never been) and from what I know very indicative of first generation families. Yinka is an amazingly relatable character, and everything she does is understandable. I almost canceled a date to finish the book.
