I didn't love this one as much as the last two, but just barely makes 4.5 stars. Dexter was a little dense and slow to react. I feel like he didn't really prioritize his stalker friend as much as he should have, and was weirdly resistant to just talking to Brian way earlier. There was potential for an easy but fun solution, but he instead sat on his ass for far too long. Still fun to have Dexter in the spotlight, but a bit frustrating.

Predictable and uninteresting plot, no character development and no humour to make up for the lack of a good story. Dexter spends most of his time staring stupidly at dead bodies and bitching about Rita not cooking. I found myself hoping he'd starve to death. It's one thing to be a serial killer, but quite another to be a sexist asshole.

I’m never expecting these books to be the height of literature, but I do expect an interesting distraction.
That’s certainly what we have here, Lindsay’s excellent, flowing prose the main reason I come back to this series, even if the book itself can’t ever quite land the payoff it tries to deliver. All of them to this point have felt rushed by the last 30 pages, and then they just end abruptly. Fine I guess, but Lindsay does such a good job of talking about Dexter’s actual life that more could be spent on the immediate fall out rather than just exposition.
Still, I own them all and I’ll read them all. As mental palette cleansers go, the Dexter books certainly do their job.

These are getting a little redundant, but I still enjoy listening to them for a nice easy read. I like the Dexter character & enjoy mysteries, but it seems like Cody & Aster are easy targets in this series.

I've been a fan of the Dexter series for a while now, so my expectations were high for Double Dexter. It lived up to them in every way. The prose is as inventive and melodic as ever. There were a few laugh out loud moments to be had as well.
